Photographers in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago is where the Camino ends, and the emotional weight of that shows in the photographs taken here. The cathedral's baroque façade rises over the Praza do Obradoiro, an enormous empty square that gives a sense of scale few places can. The old town around it is granite, arcaded and often wet, which makes the stone shine. Pilgrims arriving at all hours give candid material that no other Spanish city offers. Galicia is green, cool and rainy — a completely different palette from the Mediterranean coast, and worth having in the catalogue for exactly that reason.
